Lucas Gutzman

Lucas Gutzman,Lucas目前在哈佛大学学习计算机科学,是哈佛合唱团成员,对西方艺术和文学怀有浓厚的兴趣。Lucas高中就读于麻省久负盛名的知名男校Roxbury Latin School,在校期间曾多次获得物理和生物类奖项,也曾组建自己的歌唱团,高中期间即已在本地公司担任技术类实习生。

This course will explore the idea of the American Essay. We will look at a number of examples in a number of different styles, examining the essay as a way to convey thought. By looking at the writing of others, we can develop thinking and writing skills needed for our own personal narratives and college essays. Examples, pedagogy, and course material will be drawn from the Expository writing class taught to all freshmen at Harvard College. In this class, we will discuss aspects from essays we will read and then write our own essay, asking questions and posing persuasive answers to them. At the end of this class, students will have persuasive and expository style essays required in American Colleges and Schools. Students will also practice writing their Common Application College Essay.

这门课程将探讨美式论文的写作思路。我们将阅读一系列具有不同写作风格的例文,将论文作为思想传递的载体进行研究。通过研读其他作者的作品,我们将拓展出自己的作品创作思路和写作技巧。这门课程所使用的例文、教学方法和课程材料与哈佛大学一年级新生说明文写作课堂所使用的课件同步。在这门课上,我们将从不同方面对我们所阅读的文章进行讨论并开始我们自己的创作,提出问题并寻求问题的答案。在完成这门课的学习之后,学生们将会熟悉美国大学所要求的议论文、说明文的写作风格,同时还将练习写作Common Application 大学申请文。
